Yes, I could. But I'm not driving almost 2000 miles round trip in an untuned car with a fresh cam (needs to be broken in), fresh springs, oil pump, seals etc. My car is way too low to get onto a flatbed now without damage.
To do it now is insensately reckless.
I'll keep it as it is and do all the mods after. They will be all done in time for Carlisle, PA in August though

When you and c do the install could be as speciific as possible, i'd like to know how easy it would be to do with normal (well weekend mechanic normal) tools.
as this too is on my mod list .. a little far down as of right now .. but it's on there.
are you going to do some headwork once you've got this done? also you thinking about anything for the tranny? high-stall maybe?

Neablas,
Cam isn't particulary difficult - 90% is just a PITA because you pretty much have to take everything off the front (radiator, ac condensor/ and everything connected to the front of the engine, pull the intake manifold so you don't drop the lifters into the oilpan (a bad thing) and so on. It's just time consuming but no more difficult than on any small block Chevy (just different - no distrubutor gear, priming the oil pump is different and so on)
I'm in no hurry - it can take as long as it needs to do, in order to get it done right. After the first one - all others become easy anyway And Connecticut has the patience of a Saint
I'll take LOTS of pictures.

Actually, the entire suspension/driveline would be the ultimate mod for the '55. Would be a fitting resurection for a C5 that has met an utimely demise.
Hi EG, that video is of a friends car here in Houston. Your cam is much more aggressive than the X-1. You better check into adding the converter with the cam install. The car will really need it. Check with who ever is going to be tuning it. Enjoy

Bought the springs used and the retainers/seats new from a forum member in the Parts For Sale section (you can get the most amazing bargains there if you are patient) and I got the cam brand new with over $75 off list price (long story) so all in all it didn't cost as much as if you went to a vendor or tuner site and just bought it all.
Plus I buy dribs and drabs as bargains turn up. I've had gill vent screens bought on eBay that I painted black about 3 months now - only installed them this week Things like that.
Highly recommend lurking in the Parts section of the Forum - just send a PM and see if the seller bites. Most he/she can say is "No, that is not enough money" - so you thank them and move on. And since it's a PM, no one is insulted by your low ball offer
I have no kids and I'm divorced so I can afford to play a little

RE: Stall. No, that will have to wait for a while. Car will be a bit of a dog on take off until gears/mild stall but I can live with that until I do both.
