I have to thank everyone who has answered my questions and posted how-to's on installing cat-back exhausts. I just put on some quad-tip Borlas yesterday and I have to say it was an easy install. I am a far cry from a mechanic and I was able to do this in 1 1/2 hours with no problems.
I did the whole install off of Rhino ramps. Didn't jack the car at all. I also didn't drop the sway bar. I used a sawsall and cut the pipes near the axle and they pulled right out. The only thing I can suggest is to have a pair of helping hands to hold the tips level when you're tightening things down.
Now to the good part. The sound is great! It's like I own a whole new car. What I really love is WOT. I spent most of the day finding errands to run just to hear the exhaust. Don't think I turned the radio on once either.
Anyway, If anyone is thinking of doing this yourself go for it. Just cut off the old exhaust. It make's the whole process really easy. After hearing the Borla's you'll never put the old on again anyway.
I must agree that the Stinger sound is unequaled, especially at idle. When I had my 68 vert, I got into the habit of saving my OEM parts and it payed off many years (22) later when I sold the car. For this reason, I (with the help of some forum members) jacked up the rear to a height of 32 inches, dropped the sway bar, and removed/preserved the original pipes. Either way, when you install Stingers, you save a nice chunck of weight over the OEMs and obtain an incredible 60s rumble that is very difficult for other manufacturers to duplicate.
