I'm looking to buy a used C5, probably a '99 to an '02. I wanted to know what options to look for while buying a Vette. I don't want to buy one and then find out later that I had missed out on "XXXXX" option and want to kick myself. For example theres 2 suspension options, I think they are the F45 and Z51, could be wrong but would I want either of these over stock? The only thing I know I would like for sure is a 6 speed and HUD. Thanks in advance for any advice.

F45 - Selective Real Time Damping has 3 settings and adjusts the firmness of shocks. Was available on the C4 and on the C5 until F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control, became available in 2003. MSRC was a real advance and used a special fluid with lead in it that would firm up the suspension when needed. Here's a good article on the history of the different adjustable suspensions available on the Vette....
Z51 has been available since 97 too, and is not adjustable. It is considered the "perfomance suspension".
Are these options worth the extra money? Only you can answer that and it depends on your expecations of the car. You can upgrade the sways, shocks, bushings etc. on a base suspension (FE1) car and accomplish much of what the Z51 does.
My suggestion is to read as much as you can about these different options and make your decision after that. Good luck!

One thing he failed to mention about the F45 and F55 shocks, they cost a ton to replace, especially the F55. I do think the Z51 is worth it. Good luck.
