Whew, I needed that. Thanks to all that replied with some words of wisdom/support. As always 1 or 2 forum members that just can't resist the burn, you know who you are no need to hear from you again on this thread please. Like I said "Thanks for the time" and that's all this was. Last night I was looking through threads and found several praising our cars and that's . I am glad to have a place to come for useful information, good or bad, but the key word is "useful". Bashing just plain sucks IMO and gets us nowhere new in the end.
Well, I'm goin out for a morning drive and as one forum member put it I'm goint to "Drive it like I stole it" that will always put a on my face.
This is the best car I've ever owned; period. In one and a half years and 9500 miles, I've had NO trouble at all with my 'Vette. NONE!! Cut corners? I don't see 'em. The last time this car saw a dealership was the day I wrote the check and drove her home.
And my GM experience has been pretty good overall; almost 5 years and 32,000 miles on my Denali, and it has been totally reliable as well.
I know what you mean. These forums are excellent. I have learned so much, and am aware of the things to look out for, but some guys get carried away with the criticism and paranoia.
There are those who dwell on the negative in life, and disregard all of the wonderful things to be thankful for. It's just a matter of degree. Someone told me long ago, for everytime you have to scold or discipline your dog, look for 10 reasons to praise and reward him. Good advice, and it works for kids too.
Be aware of the problems with our Vettes, but don't dwell on them. Remind yourself of the 10 great things about the Vette that exist for every bad thing. Relax, be happy for God's sake, and enjoy that Vette!!!
i'll fess up. I'm one of those guys that hated my vette after i bought it. It was in the shop for 2 months out of the first 3 I owned it. Went back in for another months after 5 months of ownership (and it just goes downhill from there). I've had so many things break on this thing. But the longer i've been on this forum, the more minor problems i've been able to fix myself. Then I realized it wasn't so much the car that I hated...it was the service and high cost of mainenance. Now I totally understand everyone's beef with dealers.
Now granted, I still am very un-happy with MY vette; but I LOVE everyone elses. When I get rid of this thing, I'll probably buy a different one and try again. I think I just got one of the few lemons out there. Maybe mine was assembled by interns..who knows.
I have always loved corvettes but that said if there is a problem with any of mine lets discuss it and find solutions or is there another forum for that?
I know what you mean about whining and being negative..but a lot of what the forum does is to help solve problems and answer questions make improvements. I think people tend not to post when they are happy or nothing happened..well there are those too and those are I guess we all just need to have a degree of patience when it comes to this stuff if i see a really negative thread I just move on.
Ok, I gatta get this off my chest. I am sick and tired of people complaining about their Vette. Today I have read what a piece of $hit they are, how a V10 would be better and several other complaints. Look, I get that our cars are not perfect, CLB, orange peal in the paint and countless other problems for different people. But really, if you don't like it get rid of your Vette and get something else, maybe like that V10. Criticizing is one thing, but degrading is another, and if you think that little of what you have get rid of it. Most people on this forum really don't want to hear how much a piece of crap the car they own is, well at least I don't. I have worked hard for my Vette and I'm damn proud of it, how about you?
