Are you sure it wasn't a SL65? beacuse that is a V12 TURBO
The badge read "V12 BI-TURBO". Also, guy was very cool, just likes fast rides. In fact, when he arrived, one drag radial was in the trunk and the other on the back seat!!!!!!! You could be right, might have been a SL65, didn't look that close, but saw the huge letters with v12 and biturbo where our z06 badge usually is. Also, this was a roadster, not 4 door.

If you are in central california I would be willing to bet it was a guy named Ben Treynor. He posts over on SVTPerformance.com and he has an SL65. Stock it ran high 11's but he bought the Renntech package and now it is running low 11's. He has some crazy fast cars. The SL65, S55, SRT 10 for him GTS for the wife and he had a yellow GTS that was in the 9's I believe but he sold it.

Yeah, I know who he is. I remember last year at the GM vs FORD bash, he was running a 1000hp Viper. Ha ha. It seemed to have a small traction problem. ANyway, I've seen him before in the S55 run an 11.79@119, guess I got confused he has so many fast cars. Thanks for the info.
Kompressor is German for Compresser, Which we call a Turbocharger, The Huns simply call it a compressor, which is what a turbocharger does, compresses the air charge. You want racing History, look at Mercedez Benz through the 30's, 50's and lately in F1, Not to mention the Nifty ME 109 engine in WW2.
It amazes me at how the cars today are pumping up the horsepower to unheard of levels. It Reminds me of the "good old days" of the muscle car era when Mom's car had a 383 and Dad's had a 440 Magnum and truly hauled butt. Within the last few years it seems like we have gone that direction again! YEEEAAA!! I love it. I thought my 99 300 M with 253 hp. was cool. Now,the 300C with 425HP? Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes, and other large 4 doors with 4-500+ hp.! Mitsubishi Lancer(gasp) and (EEK!) Subaru WRX Low 13 second cars, stock? Look whats going on with Viper, Mustang, Ford GT, Chrysler Crossfire, Dodge Magnum and Charger. Then our beloved Corvette. What used to be King of the Hill ZR1 performance, is now available in the base C6. Look out , here comes the new Z06! Whatever cars you love or hate, if you lived through the muscle car era and lamented it's demise; replaced by an era of Mustang II's, and all the other Wheezing, underpowered facsimiles of a once proud era, then you've got to be thrilled to be living through the virtual revival of an phenomenon once thought to be extinct. As Vette owners, whether we have more or less HP. or trap speed than the other guys car, we're still living it large in one of the coolest cars on the planet and at a time that I for one thought I would never see again!! FLY LOW Sweet Chariot!

I see my reputation precedes me The car was an '05 SL65 with the RENNtech ECU and BFG drag radials. Here's a short vid from that evening (note - the voice you hear is the announcer in the tower)

Everytime I drive my 1999 Mercedes SLK 230, I say to myself, "ya know, I need to drive this car more often." Then, I get in the 2003 Corvette and say to myself, "why do I have an SLK when this car is sooooo much fun to drive?" In any case, my little silver 4 banger has a Supercharger and Inter-cooler that puts out about 210 ft pounds and just under 200 HP. Mine is slightly stronger than stock. The top goes down in the trunk in 25 seconds and the bose radio is slightly better than what we have in the Corvette. MB uses Superchargers in their cars. They are really great cars but spend far to much time in service bays.

The SLK series and the SL series are very different cars, though both are 2-seat convertibles. The SLK currently comes in the 350 (3.5L V6) and 55 (5.5L V8) models; previous models have included SLK32 (3.2L S/C V6) and SLK230 Kompressor (2.3L S/C I4) versions. The SL currently comes in 500 (5.0L V8), 55 (5.5L S/C V8), 600 (5.5L TT V12) and 65 (6.0L TT V12) models.
Your "SLK57" looks like a very fun vehicle! I suppose by that nomenclature my wife has a "SL80"
