Default Hood Seal

This is not the typical "performance hood seal" thread.

People have said to go to an auto parts or hardware store and buy weather stripping instead of buying from vendors. I've seen the vendor catalog with a cross-section of the seal, so I have an idea of what to buy. Well, I've been to a handfull of each store and can't find anything resembling a good deal for the correct product. Does anyone who bought from a local store have a brand/product name of what they bought?

thanks in advance

Not sure of the part number, but you can find it at Auto Zone for about $14. 00 for 8 foot .

Here's a thread that discusses this hood seal and has some specs on it.

Hood Seal Thread

BTW, it's weatherstripping. Any halfway decent hardware store should have this stuff in a roll for about $5 - $10.

HTH.

Adherence quality of the adhesive is much better than the one I got from a vendor.

I have been through 2 hood seals and have not been that impressed. They help keep out dirt but water always seems to get by. I have tried running 2 strips side by side but still was'nt that great. I think I am going to try to put another hood seal on the underside of the hood itself to see if that helps. It's not an expensive mod but you can get a better deal at Auto Zone than any vendor. Good luck!

AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc should have what you need.

I just bought an 8ft seal from AutoZone the other day. I am installing it on two vettes. Cheaper and good quality seal.

OK, Jessem. It's just weatherstripping, dude.

The problem is that what you need doesn't seem to be available in your area. Seems to me that you'll have to go to one or more of the larger home improvement or auto parts retailers or order what you need off the Internet.

You do know that both Wally World and Home Depot has websites, right?

It doesn't slide onto the car. It sticks to the area of the front bumper that comes to a flat with screws in it so when the hood is closed it presses down on the strip to create a seal.

can someone take a pic of the package and location in the autozone store -- just for new chaps to get their bearings and also know what brand or description they are looking for?

cheers

OK,

Just got back from AutoZone at lunch. Bought the $14.99, 8 foot, weather strip. Looks like good quality stuff.

It was located directly to the right of the windshield wipers on the bottom row.

P/N listed on my receipt reads as follows....

#267100 MW78348 BULB WEATH

I'm in the DFW area. Good luck on your search.
