Did the brush on kit from local car parts store. Still look good after 2 years. My suggestion,(brush-on) only mix half the paint/hardner, If you mix it all,(2 calipers at a time) will set up before your done.
Rustoleum Sunrise Red, artist brushes, glasses, a good light in the wheel well, knee pads.....and a crap load of patience. Yes...no need to remove them.

I just finished mine (see "Serious mod"). One pint can of Rustoleum (Sunburst Yellow), one brush, some masking tape, a little thinner (to clean brush), and a couple of cans of brake cleaner. Total cost under $20.

Thanks all for the prompt, and promising response. I love low cost do-it-yourself jobs . . . Couple more dumb questions before I embark on this . . .
Do you bother painting the back of the calipers and if so, are they fairly easy to access by turning the wheels? Obviously I have not done any brake/tire work on my C5 yet.
On front "Corvette" logo - - do you just paint and light sand the letters?
Just saw you are in Fairfax. Let me know if you want to see mine. Just did them.
JLA - - would love to see a finished set. PM me and lets see if we can meet up sometime . . . great excuse to get out in the Vette . . . we just added our 3rd little one to our family so I've been house bound of late!!

PM on the way. Long weekend ahead and I NEED A BREAK FROM MY DAY TO DAY!
Spray Hi-Temp Caliper paint on the car. Remove the brake pads and reassemble. Slide newspaper between caliper bracket/ caliper and rotor. Mask rest of wheelwell. Spray away. Doesn't take long, probably 20 mins per wheel. When dry replace the pads and sand/file the paint off the word "Corvette" from the fronts. Ta-Da done!
I did a 02 coupe that I used to own by just buying rustoleum safety red paint and dousing the calipers with brake cleaner. I also taped around the calipers and left them on the rotor. The end result was that they looked good and seemed to be durable.
Just this last weekend I painted the calipers on my GTO and used a Duplicolor caliper painting kit ($15 advance auto parts). I also took the calipers off the rotors to do it. Having done it both ways, I would definately recommend getting the Duplicolor kit and taking the calipers off. It actually took less time taking the calipers off (no laborious masking and taping job) and the paint was quick drying, allowing 3 coats within an hour. If you're uncertain about taking the calipers off, there are detailed how-tos with pictures on this forum.
Good Luck
