Included in the kit: Upper Air Box, Radiator Shroud, WCC Filter, all clips and fasteners, Filter for PVC hose, Lifetime supply of cleaner and oil for the filter.
The WCC Hurricane Intake is an very well crafted piece in terms of construction and design. The overall fit was good, but could be a little better. I had to leave out the screws that hold the upper portion of the airbox in place, but it is still very securely fastened by the intake and filter configuration.
Some of the "sucking" sound of the exposed air filter is gone, but I know that the reduction in engine heated air entering the filter during low speed is going to be better for my Z in the long run. Going from the Warhead filter, the supplied WCC filter is quite a bit smaller. It looks to be a very sturdy design, that should provide more than enough air for my Magnacharged Z.
I gave an overall product rating of a 9 out of 10 because (At $239.00) I felt this product is a great value for the quality and design of the component. I haven't noticed any increase in power over the exposed Halltech Warhead filter, but I have the peace of mind knowing that I am getting much less heated air. The instructions provided in the kit are vague, but the installation process is very straight forward so it doesn't matter much.
I had my piece painted to match the rest of the car and can say without a doubt that it is a great looking piece. I am 100% happy with my purchase and would recommend this to anyone looking for a good CAI for their C5.
I like the intake and if I didn't already have the VORTEK (which requires cutting of the shorud), I would have gone with this intake. Looks great, the concept is awesome and the price isn't breaking.
EFI-1, mph1972 (your turn to help me Micah), thanks for the info! Looks like it's a go with the Hurricane. It'll go on next week along with the LPE GT 2-3 cam install.
EFI, beaut of car you have there! Thanks for the pics! One more question for you, is it a PIA to get to the filter after install for cleaning purposes?
I replaced my Vortex with the Hurricane system and have had no regrets.
The Hurricane, as far as I'm concerned, is the best looking system out there.
I had it painted to match the rest of my engine bay pieces and was very pleased with the results.
I haven't cleaned the filter yet, but just off memory of the installation, I'd assume it's gonna be a bitch.
Well, to clean my VORTEK intake I have to remove the radiator shroud bolts to get to it and so for that matter, it will be no fun with either one of them, but you could go through from the bottom.
It is all part of modding the car, things are fun when done and a PIA when you have to do things later, like getting to a filter that is behind a bolted in box. I say go for it and enjoy it and in about 20,000 or more miles, put up with the hassel to clean it, because in the long run...it all pays off in the end.
