I just drove them back to back my 2002 with 7500 miles is faster than my 2003 with 7700 miles. Its faster by more than a little bit. The 02 just breaks the tires loose even though it has new rubber. The 02 is also louder. What is the difference? I would hope for my new car to be quicker than my old car but not the case.
My theory with differing dyno's etc is that the corvette is still a semi mass produced car. Tolerances have a right and left, not a specific. Hey its just a theory but explains the differing number etc with my Z friends and I.

You new car shouldn't be faster, they are equal, also your test doesn't sound very scientific. Also, why do you have 2 Z06s, with about the same mileage?

You know, the article in Corvette Magazine on the manufacturing of the LS1/6 in St. Catherines, Cn. really was enlightening on how meticulously they assemble the engine. After reading that article, I find it difficult to believe there is one gnat's ffarrt of difference......
There are variances in different cars. Small differences, hardly noticable individually, in the entire drive train, and in the car as a whole, add up and results in some cars being slightly faster than others.
Either the 02 was on the receiving end of few extra ponies, or the 03 got shorted few.
Theres not any significant difference between the two years. The 03 got a newer fuel injection system (its the same one in the LS2s), but that shouldn't be a factor.

Must be nice to have 2 Z's! Maybe the clutch is more worn on the 03 and it does not engage as hard on the 02, giving the 02 more wheel spin???

I think we need some Dyno results for comparison. I've heard loud ricer's that were barely moving down the road and you would think Godzilla was coming.

I'd like to see that article. Do you know if it's online anywhere?

Stock for stock, my 02Z is faster than my 03Z. There is not doubt about it. At the track it ran faster and it feels faster. To make matters worse, my 02 Z has an 01 airbox lid on it. 03 had 12k, 02 has 40k.
It has nothing to do with years, but circumstances!!
I know of header/catless 01's pulling 400 RWHP!!
Sometimes all the components gell, sometimes they don't!!
It's been that way for a long time!
That's why you pay for 'blueprinting'!
You take out as many variables as possible!

My 2002 Z06 dynoed at 375.3 with 26k (now at 32k), My 2004 Z16 dynoed at 368 with 21k (now at 22k)
