Are jacking pucks supposed to come with the car? If not...why the hell not? Just curious. Two of my friends with C5s told me that their cars came with pucks. Could this have been a dealer "bonus"? I didn't get any...what about you?

Must have been a bonus -they didn’t come with my car.
The manual doesn’t recognize the frame’s lifting points either.
Make your own took me about 1/2 hour and cost less than $20 bucks for 4. I got 8 hockey pucks glued them together with JB Weld. Drill a pilot hole in the center and screw in a 1'' eye screw. I've seen these things going for over $50 (Corvette Tax)Puckem
Stupid question, but what is wrong with using a standard floor jack at the jacking locations specified by the manual? I've heard about using the hockey pucks for years, but I never understood why???
I would not get the plastic/polymer style lift pads. I had one fail and me and now my car is in the shop for $4100 dollers worth of repairs. Just lift the rear off of the pumkin. The front by driving up on some 2x4s to provide adequate clearance to lift off of the K-member. I learned the hard way. Hope fully you all can learn from my mistake.

and I use a piece of 1x6 as another precaution or jack up from cross members.

Because it is quite likley that the jack will be lifting against the
smc body panel damaging it. The pucks provide a solid interface
to the frame and clearance for the body panels to prevent
damage.

I can't get a standard floor jack under my car. I had to get a low profile jack. I bought the Craftsman made the pucks and inserts for jackstands. And by the way I weight tested the jackstand inserts at over 3500lbs on one. They cost me about $15 to make and provide a good bearing surface for the puck. I jack using a 2x6 at cross member then stands at lift points or to lift just a tire I jack a lift points.
I just received today my BMW 318i pucks which are a perfect fit for the
C6. Once installed they stay on the car, so any moron can see where
to put the jack. You can not see them unless you are laying on the
ground looking under the car. $6.95 ea. plus a couple of bucks shipping. Thanks to a forum member that gave the info for ordering.

Great idea! Have you come up with a way to make the inserts adjustable for height?
