"Is it a 2005 or 2006?"
Pulled up at Chevron station today and as I got out, a gentleman was standing about 8 feet in back and slightly to the left of my car just staring at it all over. His first question was, "Is it a 2005 or 2006?"
I said, "No, no, no. It's an '02 C5. One of the 'older' ones."
He replied, "Oh no. The older ones are the Stingrays!"
This man knew Corvettes and still thought Red Racer was a new C6. Oh my goodness... It was freshly detailed, so maybe that's one reason he said what he did. And his view angle showed him the view that's most like the C6, I guess.
If you mistake a C5 for a C6 you do not know corvettes.
However, I always mistake grand ams/grand prixs for corvettes when they are approaching from a distance because of those daytime running lights. I getting ready to wave and then realize I f*ed up.

I get that sometimes, but they just ask if it's new.
I doubt they know vettes either, but keep it nice and detailed with some chromies and it'll sparkle like it's new and people will ask that question
coincidentally, just a block from a Chevron station...
...a guy pulls up beside me and suggests that StuzVette is a brandnew C6...
...I corrected him and then he made like he wanted to race.
I just let him beat me... :o
...then Jami required me to blow by him...
...I suppose his ears are still ringing to this day

Yeah. People will ask. I think it's the black rear end, Caravaggio spoiler and their lack of info.
InSane - Don't fell dumb. We've all done it. I think the DRL's are narrower than the C5. I'm sure they still enjoy you waving at them. Just don't do it with a limp wrist so you don't have guys following you around town
