Alternative to Optima?

Can't find a replacement battery in the larger size Optima. Any suggestions for an alternative replacement battery?

ACDelco is pretty good. I've had my original battery for 5 years with no problems. Just my opinion.

Is the red top available in two sizes? The ones I saw at Autozone are smaller than the one I'm replacing.

You might take a look at the Excide Orbital Select line of batteries. These are Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries, like the Optimas. Also, it is my understanding that Excide Technologies was the original developer of the AGM technology which Optima and other companies are now using. I personally have not used the Excide Select line of batteries, but the reviews I've read show them to be excellent performers and this is the way I'm leaning when it comes time to replace the battery in our car.

The Exide Select Orbital is their standard starting battery much like the Optima Red Top. The Exide Select Orbital XCD is their deep cycle battery like the Optima Yellow Top. You can read more about the specifications and size information of each of the Excides at the above links.

I don't know who in your area may carry the Excide Orbitals, but most of the Sam's Clubs in our area carry them or have in the past.

I have a friend who just went with the Excide, very nice battery. That is the route I plan to take as well. Lot of Optima failures lately have just turned me off to that battery.
