Default bad cat ?

I recently threw a P0175 code and I noticed that the space between my seats and tunnel get really hot. Running rich can toast the cats so I am wondering if anyone else has noticed how hot their car gets say driving an hour home from work if you stick your had down between your seat and tunnel. Does it get like way hot or no ?

What made me notice it was I pulled something out of my center console and it was hot as all hell. And tonight I slid my hand between both seats an the tumnel and it was way hot.

And that night I tossed a P0175, bank 2 too rich code which later went away.

After some reading I realized a bad cat can overheat so I am wondering if thats the case or I am just weirding out.

Maybe I am imagining something that is not but has anyone else noticed this or can you jam your hand down there and let me know how hot it feels after say running your car in slow traffic.

I would like to repoace them if thats the case.

Cool thanks for the info. Something must be wrong then. I am gonna drop her off at the dealer and ask them to get to the bottom of it ASAP.

If my car is rich and killing the cats then I need that corrected or of the cats are just bad then they need to fix that also.

I really appreciate the feedback cause I didn't recall the car being so hot and I think something is wrong fir sure but wasn't positive till you posted that.

I was thinking maybe it waas because it was starting to get 90+ here in Austin. But now I think perhaps I was right and its screwed up.

I'll post up on what the dealer finds.

You rock.

That sucks though cuse I just put it in about a month ago when the waterpump went out.

For those that don't know you can still drive without a water pump. There is a special mode it goes into when the pump fails where it starts pulling cylinders and you can drive 50 miles. My car never got hot enough to go into that mode and I drove it home like 25 miles with no pump because the manual says you can.

On the highway it ran 190 at like 90 mph but at lights it would get way hot.

Sucked though cause it was friday and I didn't get her back till tuesday.
