Painted mine removed from the brackets but did not remove the brake lines. Cleaned, cleaned&cleaned then 3 coats of Black Rustoleum Spray. (I covered the entire car before spraying)
Then used an artist brush for gold corvette lettering then 2 coats of Clear Rustoleum Spray. Did it over the Winter 1-1/2 years ago. Put the car up on jack stands so I could do all four at the same time. It took about 2 weeks when it was all said and done.
Caliper bolts are torqued to 125 lbs & require a few dabs of Red Loctite on the threads. I discuss their removal and re-installation in this web page on changing rotors.
My mistake, I thought the guys that were brushing were masking entire care! Any spraying...I agree...mask (or cover) it all. My only advise w/ the kits...go buy a few cheap 1/2" brushes before you start. The single kit brush tends to dry out between the 5 min. coats. Don't want to wash the brush 12 times. I put 3 coats on each caliper. 5 min wait between coats, came out great. Looks like all of the pics above were done very nicely. Good job guys! Those half chrome half black ones are sharp! Later.
Jeff-
Thanks for the photos of your caliper painting project. After you sanded the CORVETTE logo on the calipers, did you apply any paint to the letters like Ron did on his black with gold lettered calipers? If not, aren't they prone to rust?

I'm lazy! I had mine done when I did the "Big Break" MOD on my 99 C5 Coupe a couple years back.

Did mine with Rustoleum brush on and shot it with clear paint.
Did all the basic things in preping the calipers. Took wheels off did the caliper in silver to mach the sebring silver and did the letters in gloss black.
1. Removed caliper but left attached to brake line
2. Cleaned well with brake cleaner
3. Painted with brush and Rustoleum
4. Paint takes a long time to dry (3-4 hours)
5. Applied 3 coats
6. Sanded off letters and painted with black paint
7. Remounted calipers....Done
P.S. Drilled and slotted rotors on the way!
I removed the wheels and took the calipers and caliper brackets off as one unit by removing the two 21mm caliper bracket bolts hold each of them on. Installed new Baer rotors, slipped calipers back into place and retorqued the caliper bracket bolts to 125 lbs. Painted the rotors with Rustoleum Gloss Sunburst Yellow (a not perfect, but pretty good match for MY), sanded off the paint on the letters, and painted them using a Testors Gloss Black paint pen.
Mine's not perfect as well. I really did not take the time to detail the calipers. I tried to cover the calipers with the paint as I can but since I did not remove them I cna only go so far. But I guess the important thing is having a good paint cover where the calipers are showing.
