Default High Oil/water temps

Hey,
I have been having higher than normal oil/water temps than normal.
Today for instance I'm doing 68 for about 20 mins on interstate. I got up to about 186 oil temp just before getting on the interstate but then Oil temp is 210 and water is 198 after just a few mins. I never got above 2500rmp when going through the gears and was just cruising in 6th the whole time once up to speed. When I got off the interstate and on the side streets to get home the Oil went to 219 and water near 220 with only getting to around 3000rmp a few times in lower gears but then upshifting and using lower rpms. Basically very conservative driving. The temp today is about 93.
Any ideas what could be causing it other than hot day. I haven't seen this type of behavior before in past summers. I have water wetter additive in the coolant and I use mobile 5w30. Oil was just changed about 2 months ago (about 2k miles). I have a K&N air filter. I am going to check it to make sure it is not clogged and check the air intake area to make sure there are no shopping bags etc. caught in there.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are two fans....make sure the one on the passenger side is coming on. The Maxi-Fuses in the engine compartment control the fans #46/47 I think. Maybe one is blown.

I just had to take the passenger side fan apart to remove a plastic bag from it. The entire bag was inside the fan and I didn't see it in there until a turned the fan a couple times by hand and felt it bind.

Those are fairly typical numbers. The fans come on at something like 220ish and 228ish. With little airflow, or a high load, the water will run right up to the upper 220s when the fans come on in high speed and bring the temp back down. Since the Z06 has no oil cooler, the oil temp will tend to follow the water temp. Oil temp runs much higher at high rpm than it does at low rpm.

On the track, oil temps of 300 are easily achievable, which is why most of us install oil coolers and run high quality synthetic oils.

with sub

Check your radiator for any debris that may be up there and blow it out with a high pressure air hose. ALso check your oil level. If you running a bit low with oil full it up to the full or 1/2 qt over.

Those are normal numbers for an outside temp of 93. I used to get those numbers all the time down here in Texas before I put a 160 stat and had the PCM reprogrammed to turn the fans on sooner. I still get both the temps up there with spirited driving.

Your oil temps are OK. You want your oil to get hot enough to burn off contaninates and moisture. Your coolant temps are in line with a car that does not have any coolant system mods (stock).

Same here, when the temp gets up passed 90 here in So Cal my Z would run a 220 all of the time, even on the freeway, I eventually changed to a 160 stat and changed the fans settings as I was just never comfortable running a 220.

Thanks for all the info guys.
Last night I cleaned off the radiator and cleaned and re-oiled my K&N. It's only been about 25k miles but a good cleaning wouldn't have hurt it.
I got about 2 handfulls of grass, leaves, twigs, and small rocks out of the radiator. I also checked my coolant resevior and it looked pretty empty so I added about a quart extra I had and it still didn't cover the cross structure in the tank. Not sure how much is supposed to be in there. Today on the way in to work it only got to 208 Oil temp which is much closer to what I have come to expect. I know a lot of you are saying that these temps are normal and OK. That may be so, but I was concerned because I am not used to seeing them that high on my car ever before over the last two summers. Anyway, thanks for the insights. I love this site.

Though it is really hard to see, on the front of the reservoir there are two lines which I believe are max and min fill cold. I normally have mine filled to the top line.
