I had 225 miles elasped on a tank of gas. The fuel gauge showed about 1/2 full as I drove home yesterday. Suddenly I hear a "bong" and look down to see the "Check Gauges" light, "Low Fuel" message on the DIC, and the gas gauge was at zero (empty). For peace of mind, I pulled into a gas station and topped it off with 11.5 gallons. The system then showed all normal indications after that. What could have happened?

Concur with Chevron's Techron fuel system cleaner. About $5. After my fuel gauge acted indecisive, I have run Techron about every 1000 miles. No recurrence. Great product.
I had the same problem with Shell gas Changed to diff. gas , added a can of Chemtool B-12 cleaner Then Techron from Chevron. that was about 3 tanks ago & no more problems. It happened after 2 straight tanks of Shell.
