I have had my screen removed fora couple of years now & have no problems.... did notice better response. I noticed the ridge it left after removing the screen on the MAF housing so I ported & polished the housing. It took some time, but I know it smoothed out the air flow to & from the MAF. As far as removing the screen & opening it up creating a lean condition due to more air, as I understand it the computer will richen up the fuel mixture. This is how the guys are installing the Dry Shot Nitrous systems. They spray the nitrous oxide in the air box in front of the MAF sensor, so it will sense the added O2 and add the appropreate fuel to create the correct mixture. Just as I understand it.

You wont get many NO2 cycles out of that theory before you kill the motor. More additional fuel needs to be added that just what the computer can add.

I still have my screen, but added stuff in the sig and had the car tuned. Since its expecting more air, I wonder what would happen if I removed the screen now.

Ive heard more horror stories than better performance story with guys that have removed the screen. I wonder if they nicked the filiments or go them to dirt while removingthe screen.

Well, I think I will try removing it (CAREFULLY)this weekend; but keep the screen handy to put it back if it screws something up.
I do want to keep it regardless, as I think I would put it back if I had to take it in for warranty work. No sense giving them a reason to deny me!
I just can't resist such a cheap mod! Thanks everybody, I'll let you know my thoughts on it afterward.......

Sorry, but once it's out, it's out. You cant put it back in like it was. Better off getting a spare or some after market MAF ends. Don't forget to drive it for a while for the re-learn. - C.
