Based on the autocross results at national events, the Corvettes seem to be turning in the fastest times for street cars.

I think some people are confusing e36 M3 and e46 M3 that are faaar away from each other when it comes to performance !
e46 is 333 hp versus e36 240 hp

My partner has an 02 SMG M3 vert with some work done to it (CAI, exhaust). This car does not compare to my car in any performance category BUT it is a lot of fun to drive. It is very well balanced (wish it were a true manual, though) My $0.02
