Default Mustang Flyby..

Doing a lone wolf cruise, north west of Dallas headed towards Oklahoma. Car is dirty, sitting at a intersection of two farm roads. Nothing to be seen but wide open spaces, few shrub trees in the distance. No cars, no people, no livestock. AC is on, listing to AC/DC, have been jaming gears and tunes. I'm bad, ready to roll.

All of a sudden, there is this tremendouse screaming roar right over my head! My car is buffeted and dust flys everywhere! I look up through plexi-roof, I've been buzzed by a P51, a Mustang with wings!

I jump out the car screaming, hollering, waving and jumping up and down! Damn thing was silver and beautiful, sun glistening off the aluminum skin! He goes over on a wing, he's comming back! Does another "gun run" , waggles his wings and zooms up and out of sight!

What a thrill! Crazy SOB! Must be a C5 owner as well; or maybe he owns a four wheel Mustang and was trying to send me a message!

Here's a shot of one that buzzed me just a few days ago (at my request). It was at a local state park and it belonged to a Delaware RC Club member. Wing span about 18".

I'm lucky I get to see them all the time at work. The airport I work at has a CAF(Confererate Air force) hanger. Basically a bunch of old guy with old war birds. B-25 bomber, P40, P38, T6 and P51...Realy cool when they fire them up all at once. And cool when they fly formation over my hanger....

Default Mustang Entusist

There are not a lot of P51 Mustangs still alive. I would be interested to know which one it was. All the Mustangs in exisistance have different names and color schemes. Could you see any of its markings or name? .

It's an honor to have a Mustang like that blow by you! The pilot obviously recognized another great performance machine.

"Empire of The Sun". YOU beat me to that quote. Great aircraft, only rivaled by the P38 Lightning.
