HRE Wheels - check for safty
HRE wheel failure leads to banning from racing orginzations. Check your wheels for safty.

Interesting.... Don't know that I'd want to race a wheel like that anyway, but it might make me think twice about buying them for the street... Don't need them corroding down here in the salty Florida air...

I like the 545 design cause I know how its built
No issues on any of our {10} HRE 545s and I check them on a regular basis as I abuse them w/o issue as well
One set of OEM Magnesiums and HRE 545s will be at CMP in October

I check all my wheels - Before I go to a track weekend. I have an extensive list of things to check off.
My wheels I take off and wash, remove brake dust and track turds stuck on them, inspect the tires and check the tread depth, and inspect after each weekend. Before I also inspect the tires, look for cracks, havent found any yet :phew: check for the rim roundness, and several other wheel related items.
So checking your wheels pereodicly is just part of the fun.

I have seen CCW wheels brake, BBS and Fiske wheels crack. All from stress of hard use. Welds give way on ZO6 Repos too.
Whether these wheels have actully been banned or not it is a good idea and reminder to check our wheels for those small hair line cracks. Racing, road, drag, auto-x and or track days takes a toll on equipment.
