Profiled this morning
Sounds like someone wanted to feel important that morning.. Kinda stupid of you ask me. I don't have any thing against legit law enforcement ..but.. this area is awash with bad drivers and speed is a minor contributer to the problem. It's no wonder that the DC ranked #1 in accidents amoung cities nation wide in a recent study. Some surrounding jurisdictions ranked 3-5th.

Couldn't be a more obvious case of profiling. At least it was because I was driving the nicest car on the road. Unfair as it is I guess we should expect it.
However, I'm a little more fortunate at the moment. I currently live and work in Germany and getting to work in the mornings is a 130 mph (+), Autobahn thrill; legal too
Here in Germany the left lane(s) are for passing or faster traffic only
. . . and if you ain't doing that then you get over to the right (or you will get a tick for obstructing traffic). It's great. Just thought I would share the contrast

You were speeding, he told you to slow down....
he didnt ticket you.
and he could have... your bitching...???
maybe he just scraped a few people off the concrete surface because they were speeding...
Be thankful that they are there.,,.,,
if they weren't there, everyone would be doing 100.
My wife and kids are out there on those roads..
Maybe if that guy was there when my best friend decided to speed, he would still be alive.... Still miss you Jim after 10 years!!!!!

Your topic was Profiled this morning...
You were bitching about being profiled....
Its the highway patrol's job to keep the flow of traffic safe...
because you're in the flow doesnt give you the right to speed...
The officer may be hitting up on every ten cars or so to "slow it down" a very common practice... Next step is to turn on the lights and start writting tickets. that also gets the traffic to slow down....
My point was consider yourself lucky...
I've had Officers tell me to slow down , and my first thought is "Thank You" for not ticketing me... Not bitching about being profiled..

I drove that stretch of 66 from Linden to Centreville everyday for a few years... people speeding isn't the problem. It's all the non-english speaking drivers who don't know/understand/care about our traffic laws.
Quit giving the guy a hard time, he was relating a story... no need to go all kinds of crazy telling him he's lucky he didn't get a ticket.

Take the roid rage down a notch. He was doing the same speed as everyone else and got picked out of the pack? F that. Could be the cop was having a bad day, but kinda ironic he singled out the vette.
And like the other post about Germany said, left lane = pass, not drink your coffee and eat your donut on your sub-speed limit drive to work. 66 sucks enough as it is, if you wanna putz along, go for it, but stay outta the way (i.e. right lane). That goes for x95 routes too!

I was wondering because I agree, I think I would have ignored his azz and kept going.
I got into a heated discussion while traffic was backed up with some ignorant, stupid DOT motorist ***'t driver. Traffic was stopped because of an accident (though at that point, I didn't know why)
I was about a couple of hundred feet from an exit ramp and needed gas. I pulled over a couple of feet to see how much further the ramp was. I don't like when people fly up the side on the shoulder so I pulled back into the lane and thought I would wait until I got a little closer.
Apparently my enclosed trailer was sticking over the white line about a foot. Several firetrucks went screaming up the shoulder and this stupid ****' DOT assistant pulled up and started CUSSING me out...
I was like, man, I'm sorry, I thought my trailer was all the way back, I didn't want to drive up the shoulder. He just KEPT on, yelling and screaming. I was fed up. We were screaming back and forth so he called for a trooper to come over.... started telling the trooper that he needed to ticket me...blah, blah, blah.
The trooper stood there for a second and listened and then asked if I was going to yell at him the way I did that DOT guy.
I said, Not if you don't treat me the way he treated me. You get the respect you dish out. The trooper just laughed and told me to make sure that I pulled all the way back in next time and waved me on.
The stupid DOT assistant guy started yelling at the trooper for letting me go.
Some of those guys are just on power trips. Couldn't make it as a LEO so at least they get to carry flashing lights on their trucks.
Geez.

Oh, the drama
Yeah, I'd rather he slow down too
That way he can obstruct traffic, cause other drivers to change lanes, brake and try to find a way around him, and in the process of all this lane changing and braking, potentially cause more crashes Yep, thats what I want to see the patrol doing...keeping us safe
"Some of those guys are just on power trips. Couldn't make it as a LEO so at least they get to carry flashing lights on their trucks."
We have CSO's (Community Service Officers) down here. I assume thats kinda what these peeps are? Non-sworn types? An extra set of eyes and ears? We also have VIP's (Volunteers On patrol). These are usually elderly citizens in thier POV's with magnetic signs and yellow lights
. In all honesty, when they do what they;re supposed to do, they're a great asset to the community and the dept. When they go renegade
, they're a pain in the ****

Sounds like the Trooper saw through the moron. Good trooper
Bad DOT guy
Did this guy have radar? Can he pull you over? Or just make your life miserable by calling ahead to a LEO? I remember when I lived in Michigan that a DNR officer could pull you if he/she wanted to. I was told they have more power than a state trooper. I'm not sure if that was true, but I NEVER tested it out!
