Default Blackwing question

About how many miles can I expect to get, before my Blackwing need to be cleaned and reoiled? It's been on about 14,000 miles, and has never seen a gravel road. Thanks in advance.

It should have an indicator valve on it. When I got mine I was told since AZ is so dusty and the dust is very fine that I should clean it at least every 10k.

Mine had been on nearly 20K mi when I just cleaned it. It was moderately dirty but the indicator still showed green. I think it depends on the type of driving you do and the part of the country you're in.

Mine is still showing green. I try to avoid dusty roads when ever I can. I did open up the area behind the fog lights. That caused the engine area to get a little dirtier than normal. I'm taking it next Wednesday on my trip to Flordia from the K.C. area. Hopefully the little red button won't pop-up on my trip. I just might clean it before I leave, just to be on the safe side. Thanks for all the imput. Gary

I'm not sure just how accurate the indicator is - I just do a visual check each time I wash the car to see how dirty the filter is getting. So far, no need to clean with better than 10K on the filter.

Awesome...I was just about to ask this question - I've got a little under 20k on mine and the indicator has barely moved.

Well the Blackwing literature says, "Cleaning your Blackwing high performace air filter is recommended between 50,000 and 100,000 miles on typical driving applications."

Only in OFF-ROAD conditions does it recommend you pay closer attention to it.

So, I'd say relax, enjoy your trip; even your whole summer until you've put over 50k on it or taken it off-road, which ever comes first.

Its warrantied for 10 years using that cleaning schedule.

I'd think the little pop up indicator is there for a reason. Why not let it be your guide?
