Dunlop SP9000

I run mine at 26 cold in the rear & 27 cold in the fronts.

the last set I ran around 32 and the center wore out before the rest .. i realized this and dropped the psi .. then it wore the rest of the tire out.

Didn't see many Vettes to wave at, (only a couple) but I always wave.

You should be looking for even tire wear. Here in SE Michigan, where chuck holes can destroy your rims, I add 2 pounds extra. Beware though, the rears break traction easier.

I notice 3 psi. Its not like the diffrence between drivabale or not.....the difference is very subtle, but noticable.

In Ohio, land of extremem temp swings, my pressure will vary between 25 and 30 morning to mid afternoon. I usually get 4 "dings" in morning on my way to work. But by the time I'm leaving for home, they're perfect.

Although, I like the ride a bit better when the rears are over 30....33 ish is perfect for me.

The factories adjust for the temperature change as they warm up. Set them at 30 psi. Period.

I have been running 31 psi in the fronts, and 29 psi in the rears of the two C5's I've owned. They are wearing evenly.

The companies don't expect you to do the math and compensate for driving.

The factory recommendation is 30 PSI cold, which means just that; not 27.

However, it's all personal choice...some people like to run their tires a bit lower or higher.

If you leave them at 27# you may get a low press warning....

I had mine set at 32 last week and with the 95 degree weather on a long trip they got as high as 40. Had I pressureized them to run at 30 hot, they would have dropped to 22 or 23 cold! That would bother me.

I'm going to lower them to about 28 - 29 cold, and whatever they rise to this summer, so be it.

A question, when people sell their Vettes do they take the orginal owners manual and other materials out of the car? It seems to me there are a lot of common sense questions, such as this one, that are easily answered by the info provided in the car. A Corvette is a car, not a person, it does just as any other car would do, the oil gets hot, the tires increase the pressure as they get hot etc. etc. etc. I feel that too often a Vette is put in another category than automobile.

30 psi is correct.

30 psi is correct.
30 psi is not correct.
although it is acceptable..
People spend thousands on tuning their car, yet they let the one thing that connects HP to the road ( the tires ) to a sticker that was designed to protect against product liability, not performance , gas mileage or tire longevity. Early on there were issues about customers putting 44 psi as stated on the sidewall and having liability issues. Thus the very generic 30 psi sticker on the door.
1 or two psi can add or subtract hundreds of tire miles, 1 to 3 miles per gallon. This is so important that road surface temps are monitored BY every racing institution on the planet. I can't believe all these people have no clue about setting tires in the winter at 30 and setting them in the summer at 30, and no one seems to think that there is no benefit by tuning the tires for your driving conditions..
30 cold could easily equate to 34/36 psi, which is way too high, causes a center high condition, less contact patch, poor traction, loss of performance and gas milage. THat sticker goes on every car made, whether its in a -25 degree winter Minisota or a 115 degree day in Texas where black top roads can reach 160F, and tires swell to 36/38 psi..
If you think these tires perform the same at 27 as they do a 37 psi, then your just throwing your money away modding your car.
43000 miles on my tires and 33 mpg speaks for itself.

Timely Post !. I just remembered I put 40 # in tires while stored for the winter and ran out and reset them to 31.
Thanks

When I bought the car it had 30lbs in the rear, and I didn't keep a close eye on the wear -- They wore out bald in the centers, but still had good tread on the edges. At 26/27 they wear very evenly. I'm sure I could have gotten a lot more miles out of them if I had kept an eye on how they were wearing.

Just noticed my pilots doing this at 30 psi cold and dropped a few pounds per tire. Glad i'm not the only one!
