Default Best engine

I normally don't brag about awards and trophies, but this one just has me too fired up.

Attended a local Chevy/Vette car show today in northern Ill. Nice show, draws about 150 cars. I attended this one last year and took a 1st in the C5 modified class. (people's choice voting).

Today I took a 2nd in the C5 modded class. Lots of very nice and clean cars there, so I was happy with that. I don't get too competitive at the shows, and usually don't even spend a ton of time prepping for them. My car is a daily driver, and frankly, it shows. I go to see friends and look for new ideas, and whatever happens, happens.

Well, this show also has a seperate panel of judges, who pick a handful of "best of show" cars in the various usual categories, totally seperate from the normal class voting.

Much to my amazement, I won the Best Engine award. Sure, at at all-Vette show, I wouldn't be that surprised (unless GB or Jim Dawes were there )..but this show was open to all Chevy's and Chevy-powered street rods, so there were definitely some very clean and high-quality engine bays there.
I saw this panel of 5-6 judges go over my car, and sort of "got the hint" when they spent about 10 minutes staring into my engine bay, pointing out all the little details to each other and hearing them say "wow" that many times was quite pleasing. I don't know if "professional" is the right word, but this panel of judges have all judged big Vette shows before, and knew what they were looking at.

To say the least, this kills even winning the C5 class. The freaking trophy is taller than the car, It was a tight squeeze in the back of the car.

Anyways, just had to share...this is the best acknolowdgement my car has ever received IMO. For that, I had to share my excitement.

Congrats, Tom! You most definitely deserve that. You've done an excellent job on the entire car including the engine bay.

Way to go!

From what little I could see of the engine bay - it sounds like those judges knew a great engine when they saw one! Congratulations!

I figured everyone has seen it here a million times...but here ya go.

I guess it has come a long ways, but I still only see what's left to do, and not what's already been done. I do like where it's at, don't get me wrong....but I also know it could be so much better, all I need is more time and money.

So I shall remain humbled and honest in my assessment of it.

Thanks all for the kind words .

Congratulations on the award! My engine room, being all stock, makes it tough for me to imagine what else you need to put in there!

Nice work.
