Praying that it will never have to happen but just in case.... what are your recommendations if I would ever need to have to GRT WITE towed
into port in the future????? I want to make sure what to do and not to do. I would imagine many of you have some good advice both ways (and some horror stories to go with it).
I've had mine towed more times each and every year since I've owned it then the sum of all the tows I've ever had before that. So, trust me when I tell you this, I've yet to find a tow-truck operator who has never towed a 'vette before.
What really freaks them out is if I tell them I don't want to go with them to dealer as they (the tow truck operators) are expecting a Corvette owner to be, well, ****.
If it happens, just make sure the operator knows you need a flatbed and they rest will just take care of itself.
the flat beds I have seen are pretty high angles... don't they scrape the rear end if you put it on the flat bed? what are these "planks" you guys speak of?
i don't know what the safest way is...but heres a story ....when i was in grade 12 (last year) my car was banned from school...i decided to take it to school anyways...and they decided to tow it....i had it parked backwards in the stall...and they had it lifted up...back tires on the ground front in the air with the tire roller things on the back...thats when i got outside...paid him to put it down...had my camera but i don't know why i never took a picture...kept the receipt for memories i was pretty angry last year but now i just find it funny...HIGHSCHOOL WAS A BLAST...but the c5 got too much attention therefore it was banned without reason...argued with her but what can you do especially since the parents were like DON'T TAKE IT TO SCHOOL IF THEY DON'T WANT IT THERE!!!
Mine was picked up in the yard this morning by a rollback operator who moved the bed of the truck rearward untill the angle was just right. No scrape at all. Then off to the dealership for warranty repairs.
Seems like the ignition key switch failed on Sunday with less than 12K miles.

Yep, this is the way you need to go, not just any flat bed.
