Default A really stupid question.

I just bought an '02 after having several c3's and a c2. Can someone tell me, do you have to remove the rear license plate frame to install the plate? If so how does it come off?

Thanks.

Nothing is too stupid to ask, but what do you mean by "frame?"

My Z06 has a plastic license plate frame that is boardered by a light on the right and left. The frame has a smaller perimeter than the NJ plate.

The black plastic stock frame goes on top of the plate here in AZ, the frame has tabs that snap into holes in the body but I secure the plate with screws....and then I welded it to the car so no one woudl take it........okay maybe the last part is a lie.

If you shine a flashlight along the side of the frame you will see where the tabs rae, you basically just have to get the one side off and then sort of pull it over. I used a very small regular screwdriver to pry the tabs in. I mean very small...............

Sounds wierd. Is a pic possible? I just put on an Altec Phantom frame w/ new VA plates and everything lined up perfectly.

I think you are talking about the frame that comes from the factory for the rear plate. It is held in place by four(two per side) plastic "fingers" that slide into holes in the bracket that h the plate is screwed into. If you push the frame from either side towards the center of the car and pull out at the same time the frame should pop off.

Thanks, I just discovered he solution by looking at another thread. How about the front cover? I can remove the upper part but can't figure how to remove the lower. I need to get the car inspected, so I need to at least temporarily put the front plate on.
