Default My first time... The hook is set!!!

I must admit being a bit embarrassed to say I’ve never driven a Vette before, even though I’ve admired the car for some time. I have driven at least one high performance vehicle in the past… It put out over 1500hp!!! But at 61 tons it was severely handicapped by its heavy weight, we’re talking maybe 50mph tops… On a good day

Anyhow…

My buddy really hooked my up today with a test drive of his 04 Z06… Finally, my first time behind the wheel of a Corvette!!! All I can say is wow, what a car! I didn’t think driving something as simple as a car could prove so enjoyable & exciting. I didn’t push the car for a number of reasons, the biggest being it wasn’t MY car to begin with. He did coax and I did see a little of what the car was capable of and I’m happy to say I was and still am amazed. Fast, stable, and controllable, it fit like a glove and I really felt the old “one with the machine” kind of thing… I was all smiles after my little drive. So, now I’m not only sold on the Z06 but hooked by what so many of you much enjoy on an almost daily basis. How could I have passed this by for so long

I know I know, one drive, big deal… To the long time Vette owner maybe. But to me, it was like getting a back-seat ride in an Eagle or Viper… Exhilarating to say the least. I’m envious of all of you and can’t wait to join the ranks of ownership

Mahalo,

Mark

I bought the first one I ever even rode in, 20 minutes after seeing it. No regrets.

It's kind of like a few other things. The first time is the most memorable.

Hi Boomah!

Its always great to see such enthusiasm. I feel that way every time I get into my Vette. Ive owned it for 2 months, and none of the glow has worn off! I hear it NEVER does!

Like you, I went the first 99.5% of my life without ever driving a vette.

But I plan to spend 100% of the time I have left enjoying the greatness of Vette-hood and sharing those experiences with my buddies here at the Forum!

Glad to see you here and look forward to hearing about your first Vette purchase when it happens! And post pix!

Cheers, bud!~~~JadeDragon

BTW...did you drive a tank? Or was it one of them huge earth moving trucks? Curious!

Yes sir... A tank, my old trusty Abrams Damn that was a long time ago!!! Still have a lot of fond memories; it sure wasn't a Vette but still a blast to drive. My hats off to the gents out there as we speak in the now 63+ ton beast

Thanks for the welcome & well wishes... I'll certainly post images as soon as I find my Vette!

Nice story Mark. Welcome to the dark side. Don't worry about us "long time" owners. I never take my Vette for granted. Every time I get to drive her it is an experience. I still remember my first drive in the C5. Just firmly planted a smile on my face and the car still does things to bring back that feeling everytime. Good luck in your search.

Nice post. It's amazing how many on the forum seem to forget what we have and take it for granted. Sh*t, I'm sounding like my wife.

Welcome,
It's always an experience.
I remember my first ride, it was a 92 C4 Hot Red 6-speed. I was trying to take it easy but before I knew it, I was doing 70mph in a 40......and looked out the window just to see the ground in my face flying bye all a blur.
I had a smile for a week, you will be haunted with that memory now till you buy one for yourself.
Good luck to you.
