Default Tire Iinflator

The GM tire inflator, pump only, lists at $393.00. Will any over the counter inflator provide enough PSI, around 250 PSI, to be strong & fast. I just need a no frills small 12 VDC pump. Any special brand & where to buy, you folks suggest.

Thanks
Steve

You only need 30 PSI why do you want one that is rated for 250 PSI?

Ummmm...yeah - 250psi is kinda extreme. I got one from Sears for around $20 -works fine.

The GM one maybe is for the Space Shuttle or something.....

If you blow real hard you might possibly be able to accomplish that, and its free.

The GM unit is junk and overpriced. You can get the same thing if you want, for less than $50. You might want to check out the Slime kit. They are coming out with an even smaller pump. http://www.slime.com/smartspairs/

Default Inflator?? to SHYLOR

Thanks for the info. Never heard of SLIME. For those other replies to my question. The higher the PSI capacity the less the unit has to work to do the job and the faster it is done without extra heat effecting the unit.

Thank you for the help!

Slime has been around for years. It's just another form of spare tire in a can.

interesting. can you do the slime kit thing w/ emt tires or, given what i read here often, since most tire dealers don't want to fix emt tires, is it rather a moot point? just wondering. bub

Don't these fix-a-flat compounds ruin your pressure sensors?

The Z06s do not have run-flats/tire sensors. How do people who have tire sensors installed get around this expensive problem?

Yes they do ruin tire pressure sensors. But as a last resort I'd rather ruin a sensor than be stranded.

Those of us with sensors on Z06's use a vulcanizing tire plug kit, a small jack and also carry Slime or spare tire in a can. If I have time I would try to plug the tire. But if it were dark and raining, I'd use the Slime.

Default Shylor........Inflator

I fond a good 250/psi capacity. 30/psi unit at WalMart $9.96 w. or w.o. gauge. Will give it a try. From Campbell Hausfeld.

Thanks
