I can run mine at 78 degrees and get frozen out. The wife starts complaining at anything less than 77 or 78. And remember that's in 115 degree outside temps. I suggest you have yours looked at.
I just ran mine for the first time this year on Friday night and it was very cold. I normally only run it once or twice a year to make sure it's working. Give me a Vette with air conditioning, power window, and radio delete and I'd be a happy camper.
Compared to my other GM vehicles the air does not seem to be as cold. I guess it is enough but I have to run in at about 65* to stay comfotable.
How's yours?
I have both tops for my coupe and I have dubbed the clear plexi top the "winter top" and the opaque top the "summer top". There is a significant difference (where I live at 6,000+ feet) with the two tops for cooling in summer. The opaque top results in a much cooler interior and the AC doesn't work anywhere near as hard. For my C4, plexi only, I bought one of those static cling screens from MAD and it also resulted in a cooler interior.
My AC system is FUBAR. The fan makes a wierd howling noise untill it is at max speed for a minute or so. Also, even if I turn it down to 60, it blows out hot air, which is really disappointing when your burning up here in the Hawaii heat. I have had it blow semi cold air before, but I can't make it do it when I want it to. I have checked the refrigerant, and it is fully charged so I'm guessing maybe the compressor is bad?
A/C is great, even with an underdrive pulley. Heater works good too, but here in South Texas it doesn't really get that cold, except for the snow we got on Christmas eve.......
Now the heat in my C4 was really lacking, something had to be wrong with it......
I've never had any problems with mine. I have the top off and windows down when I can.
Compared to my 98 Monte Carlo I don't see any difference, and the Vette is probably a tad better.
My outside temperature sensor was showing 100 degrees on Friday and 101 yesterday and my AC had no problem keeping me nice and cool inside, even with my car being black, having black leather, and no tinted windows either!
The A/C seemed a bit weak a month ago in my '98 so I had it serviced. Seems that the system had 2 lbs left so they recharged it and now it's freezing cold.
It's the first recharge in 96k miles so that's not too shabby. Best A/C out of any of my cars, but my other GM vehicle is a Suburban so that's got some more space to cool!
