I had a question, I had heard that the Z was set up for 17 and 18 inch wheels, and that if you go larger the handling would not be as good. Is this true? Is there a recommended set up for the best handling on rim size, and then related, corresponding tire size?
On the 8.5" you would probably go with a 265 tire. 275 might be pushing it but would probably fit if you want a little tire bulge. On the 10" you can go 285 or go with 295 for a little bulge without problems. I've run 18's all around and it handled a little better. The 17 fronts make the car feel better to me on daily driver. The 18's are a little harsher ride, you can just feel every bump. Just not my style on this car. Just my 2 cents though.

I've got an 18/19 combo on my 02' Z06 w/ those same dimensions. I currently run 265/35's up front and 295/30/19's in the rear. The car handles fine (however I don't autocross it or do any competitive driving). My only complaint, is that any grooved pavement will grab hold of you and not let go. However this is true of any wide tire'd car (truck). My 02' SS and my 01' Lightning both suffered this issue w/ 295 and 315 series tires.

How about a 19/19 combo? I was thinking about a 35 series in the rear. I know they are a little taller, but I would like the tire to fill the wheel well a bit more. Already have it lowered an inch.
To answer the question at hand, I am running 315/30/18 Pirelli Pzero corsa's in the rear. They were inexpensive for the 18's ($162 ea). TireRack showed them as a 65 wear rating, which was initially a concern since I travel ~60 miles each day round trip. I only got ~10k miles on the Goodyears and they were so greasy by 7k that they were almost undrivable. Surprisingly enough, I have 10k on the Pirelli's and would guess to say that there is another 5-7k left, maybe more and they are as sticky as the first day they were installed. Keep in mind, I do all street driving and spin them up as often as I like to (in full traction control mode). I would recommend them.
