Is is ok to have the convertible top up and both windows down while driving for long distances at interstate speed? I am just wondering if all that wind force puts too much stress on the convertible top? I rarely use the air conditioner, so if top is up, windows are usually down.
FYI, my convertible top is down plenty! Just don't want to damage the top when up. Thx
Your fine. Verts have been around a long time and the General seems to have gotten this aspect of auto mfg. right ..... Topless is best - but if you must, then leaving the top up and windows down is fine. Don't forget to latch the top down.

Don't do it man . I saw this guy driving down the street the other day like that and all of a sudden the top popped open and the latch caught his shirt and pulled him out of the seat and into the road . Then a semi ran him over . IT was horrible . Don't even joke about that .
It si never OK to have teh windows up and the top down especially the fktards who do that with the little windows in the back, that is one of my pet peeves...put all the damn windows down **** !!!

Uh, he said windows DOWN and top UP.
Perhaps yall could get a group discount:
Tried that, but she could not answer my convertible top question either!
In an effort to justify my wacko question, I am thinking the parachute principal here. There is a lot of wind for the top to handle when it is up with windows down and the car is moving at high speed.
Oh well, just put me on a shrink's sofa along side all those pickup truck drivers who ride with the tailgate down!!

You do realize you get better mileage with the windows up and the AC on at higher speeds, right?
My rule: If the windows are down, the top is down. If the top is up, the windows are up.
Tint your windows and you'll want them up because it looks damn good.

I wouldn't worry about the top being damaged, but there is one thing I have found that is a problem.
With the top up & windows down, the rear deck (tonneau) fabric cover flaps around enough that it created a couple of rub marks through the paint where the elastic strips rest.
