Default catback exhaust installation question

When installing a catback exhaust, is it required to disconnect the sway bar on both sides? Is it possible to pull out and put in the new exhaust without disconnecting the two bolts or potentially only disconnecting the passenger side one?

Thanks

I've never owned a C5 with an auto...but from what I've seen posted several times, yes you'd have to drop the sway bar with an auto.

I've never had to drop the bar with a six-speed and I've been through a few exhaust systems before settling with these awesome Stingers.

I've seen article after article in vette, etc., all talk about dropping one side of the bar...makes the install much easier. After install, just swing the unbolted side back up, torque to specs, and you're good to go

It makes very easy with an A4 and the removal and replacement is easy.

With the stock bar, all you have to remove are the 2 center brackets and let the bar hang from the end links. However, with some aftermarket bars, the end links that come with the aftermarket bars are not flexible enough to let the bar hang sufficiently out of the way to remove the stock exhaust. In this case, the bar has to be removed.

So with a MN6 there is no need to drop the bar at all?

My neighbor and I have a 2 post commercial lift and have installed several cat-back systems on C5s. Even with the MN6, we have found that swiveling the rear stabilizer bar down makes the job much easier and it only take a few minutes to do this. In fact, we ended up having to swivel the stabilizer bar down on his car which is an MN6 in order to remove the old passenger side stock exhaust without cutting it. All you need to do to swivel the stabilizer bar down is to remove the 2 upper stabilizer clamp bolts and the 2 lower stabilizer clamp nuts. DO NOT disconnect the stock end links as this is not necessary to swivel the stabilizer bar down. Once the new exhausts are installed, just swivel the stabilizer bar back in place and reinstall and torque the 2 clamp bolts and 2 clamp nuts. The proper torque for the 2 upper stabilizer clamp bolts is 49 lb/ft and for the 2 lower stabilizer clamp nuts 70 lb/ft. Proper torque here is important, especially for the two upper bolts as they are threaded into the aluminum crossmember.

Hope this helps.

Although they are from Corsa, these instrucs pretty much apply to most cat-back installs.
