Default C5R Race Wing

Hi folks,

Just graduated from college and found a great job, so my present to myself was buying my dream car, an '00 Pewter coupe. First and foremost, thanks to everyone in the forums for all the info you guys provided. I was able to make *much* more informed decision thanks to the threads I read here -- know what to look for, what's a fair price, what options I do/don't want, common problems/fixes, and so forth. So thanks again, I finally got my baby and I'm ecstatic!

Anyways, like all my other toys, I'm starting to look at doing some mods in the near future. Looks like first up will be the exterior. I really like the Tigershark rear end, so I've been seriously looking at that, but I'm also starting to dig the C5R-style Race Wing spoiler that I found over at Mid America Motorworks: (http://www.madvet.com/shop?frame=1.41.3241). However, I can't seem to find any pictures of the wing installed other than the picture that everyone seems to have:

Anyone have pictures of this wing on their C5 so I can get a better idea of how it looks? I did a forum search, but didn't come up with anything. I know some (okay, lots ) consider it gaudy, but I'm sure someone out on the forums has it on their car. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
-Mike

I believe thats the Greenwood wing. Greenwood's rep came from their nice looking C4 Body kits and wings in the 80's and 90's. Unfortunately that one is not great looking. I have seen it from every angle. I saw another one that they had for the C5 and that one is even worse. Its like 3 feet off the rear bumper

I doubt you'll find anyone on the forum who has installed a wing on their vet. I think it is considered "Ricey" to do that for the street. But to each his own, your car.

You're totally right -- I looked up Greenwood Corvettes and found a gallery of pics with that wing, and it looks pretty awful. Oh well -- Tigershark it is!

Thanks for the help,
-Mike

Actually if its done right and has the right look, such as the ones on the C4's, wings look quite nice on vettes. Winged Vettes were here before winged ricers. The ricers took them from us, not vice versa. Its just that that the C5's lines makes it difficult to look nice with a wing on it.

welcome aboard! you wanting form or function? tigershark is form, specter makes a nice butt that is functional and nice looking. carravagio makes an add-on that looks nice but doesn't function (aci makes a similar, less expensive version) and acp makes one that functions but doesn't look as nice (my opinion). I have acp decklid on mine.

Just get what makes you happy. Just make sure you like it once you get one your stuck unless it a stick on type. Also save more money if you do it right the first time.
Have fun here, let the modding begin.

Lambos and other exotics were installing wings long before anyone decided to put a fart can on a civic.
I think the C5R wing looks awsome.

Hello, and welcome to the C5 forum. I recently bought this wing from C5West.com at a huge savings over greenwood! The pedestal mounts are much lower than greenwoods, making the wing much more pleasurable to the eye. I personaly did not like it after proping it up on the back end, so I called them and they let me send it back for complete credit, minus shipping. You also might check out EBAY for " corvette ground effects" . That is where I learned of C5 west and I have lots of good things to say about these people. They make a great product and their prices are excellent, and they have some really great people working for them. I know that most of the wings made for the C5 look much like the above" Ironing Board" . Personally I like the Caravaggio or the RKSport version . but in the end , they still look tacked on, but remember It is your car and your the only one who has to be pleased with its appearance. To each his own!

That one looks lower than Greenwood.

I thought this one is Greendwood:

Congrats on the C5. IMO, not too many wings really look good on the C5. One that I feel is the exception is on a car owned by Humy. Check out his profile and see what you think.

IMHO only these wings look good on corvettes. These are the real deal on RACE CARS

I've seen this style of wing in person on a Z06 and it looked great.
