What brand & construction/design of 18-19" wheels stand up the best to bumps in the road? I have had three different sets of 18" on the GTP and I am afraid to layout $5K plus for the Vette only to have them bent by the potholes in OHIO.
Look for forged wheels with multiple spokes, to distribute stress load (e.g., solid 6-spoke, or split 5-spoke...ala Z06 design). HRE 54x series are excellent, though pricey.
Look for BBS mesh design coupled with forging process. Semi-solid forging (SSF) process is also superior as far as strength goes. After reading about HRE, I'd stay away from them. If money is no object, stay with BBS or Fikse. Can never go wrong with CCW either. There are other good wheel manufacturers also such as SSR, Rays Engineering and several others, but they are a little less common for Corvette application.
Here in NY if you could come up with a wheel which did what you are asking you could most likely ask any price. Potholes here get as big as
crater and I have never seen any rim stand up to these potholes. HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
I hit a monster pothole on the DC beltway in early spring. Watched the DIC the rest of the way, waiting for it to show low pressure...got to my location and not even a dimple on the stock polished aluminum wheel. UFB. That was with the runcraps on, which are pretty tough.
