Our '04 conv has about 9,000miles and they are almost totaly road miles. Since we got it in Nov 04 there has been two trips of about 3,000 each, one of 1,500, and another of 1,000. Or 8,500 miles out of the 9 K have been major trips.
I just did 1200 miles in my Z06 the other weekend. They are fun cars! THis is my 3rd long haul, and I averaged [fast!] on the 1st half of the trip, which was a 500 mile jaunt straight thru from midnight to 6 a.m.... Plop it in 6th, make sure plenty of good CD's for tunes, set the cruise at [fast!], and GO!
Nothing like seeing a gorgeous sunrise from inside a C5 at warp speed!
I forget what the exact mpg was, but it was still around 23 mpg!
In the trunk was my road bike (simply popped off the f & r wheels), and luggage for 4 days. TONS of room these cars have! I'd imagine a coupe is even that much bigger/roomy inside.
The wife and I just returned from a trip from Central NY to Edmond, Ok.
Nice trip, car ran great and great gas mileage compared to my SUV.

I guess I'll chime in here. It's so awsome to see that people understand these are not collectors items designed to decorate one's garage, but rather unbelievably comfortable, functional, dependable and economically sensible long term road-trippers.
I'm quasi-planning another "Out West" trip this year depending on how things work out at work. I plan to cover the interior and avoid interstates at all cost. And this time my point of origin is Orlando.
Hats off to those who understand what the Vette was built for.
