The last few days it's been in the low to mid 90's here in Charlotte but the humidity is terrible. I feel like I've just walked out of a shower without drying off...
Anyway, my ac didn't feel like it was up to par...wasn't blowing very cold so I put a ac thermometer in the vent with the ac on low speed.
In just a few seconds, the temp was showing 42 degrees. It was so freakin' hot outside, it just made the ac feel like it was blowing warm air.
I suppose if I had driven the car for any length of time, it would have cooled me down. Just driving for a few blocks didn't help.

Okay, now I'm REALLY going back to packing our stuff.
sounds like you have a problem... as for gm ac.... i work for a japanese auto nameplate, so from time to time, a little competitor trash talk gets batted around. but i always say, "say what you want about gm engineers, but no other car company makes colder ac".
it's not even a close race. in every gm vehicle i've ever been in (other than my 12 year old pontiac 6000), the ac has blown so cold, you could store meat in it.

I JUST (about 1/2 hour ago) got my Yukon back from replacing the evaporator core, drier and blower motor. The ac on my truck never seems to blow hard nor that cold (even after recharging)
Now it'll blow you away. The temp is 38 degrees out of the vent... that's FREAKIN' cold.
Those kits are great in a pinch but the gauges on them suck. It seems everytime I leave my shop and go on vacation somewhere, it's then that I need my ac recharged.... so I always end up stopping and picking up one of those kits. It'll usually get you by but whenever I get back to the shop and use a real system, I find it's nowhere near charged enough.

Normally true.... However, my '98 F-150 put my '98 Z28 to shame in the ac dept. The air in the camaro was cold, but in the ford, I would have to turn the ac off after 5-10 minutes to keep from freezing.
where is the condensor located? and how do you get to the fins? I think I need to do this with mine also.
remove airbridge, radiator shroud and then lift and separate the front condensor from the radiator....it will move forward about 1-1 1/2 inches..BE CAREFUL dont break anything....hose it out really good....be surprised how much crap is in there...then carefully reassemble
Well I have to say that I too was bitchin' about the AC. Not very cold in town and does not recover very quickly. BUT...went from Memphis to Nashville and back and froze my @#$ off. Ambient temp was near 100* and I had it on 75* with the fan on 2 and the "hi/low" mode......cold!
