...seeing others taking the time to do this has encouraged me...
Today or tomorrow I am getting this done!...
...I lll be back :o
Stu... it's easy.. any questions, just ask.
My column has been locking up the past week so I finally did it. The car knew..lol... it was fine this morning, but as soon as I got in the car to install the bypass, it locked up on me... hehe... won't anymore though..
Good move! I've had mine installed for over a year, and no problems, and no worrys. If only people would just take our word for it rather than having to go through the headache of having their column lock up on them!!!
um, when you guys (& girls) say easy------------do you mean easy for an average diy? i do not pretend to be a mechanic but fully realize that much of it ain't rocket surgery. now on the other hand i fully subscribe to the dirty harry school of thought that "a man's got to know his limitations." just curious. bub

Thats a little too close for comfort Id say...
only happened once to me...waited 9seconds (souldnt wait for 10) and then Voila...it was fine :o
Easy in that you only need a small flat head screwdriver and a #15 torx screwdriver. You can read all about it in detail at LS1howto.com.

Bub, it's very easy. The CLB comes with very good instructions. Also, there are plenty of write-ups on the installation here on the forum. I was a little skeptical at first (since you have to remove the knee panel) but once I got started, no problem. My column locked once, and that was enough motivation to install one. I'm nowhere near being a mechanic, and it took me about 30 minutes. Order it up!
Okay guys the deed is now done...
...In fact while I was installed the CLB...I replaced the plastic bezel or shroud surrounding the ignition switch...
and I replaced the passenger side carpet vent...
Investigated problem with turn signals and found the sequential turn signal the problem...
Absolutely do not take it in for the recall after you install the CLB. All they will do is reprogram your computer so it will shut down your fuel supply if the gremlins ever take over. I, too, have an '02 and I installed the CLB myself and later when I had to take mine in for warranty repair of the leaking rear axle they asked me about doing the CL recall and I simply refused it. They asked me to sign the warranty invoice showing that I had refused the recall. It was simple to refuse!
