Hell, a full exhaust system will run you anywhere between $700-$1000, and thats if you put it on yourself...add a couple hundred bucks for labor if you have to pay someone. I'm in the same boat you are, I'm looking for fairly inexpensive mods, but lets face it, you might as well stick that $500 in the bank and wait till it at least doubles...

I have more than $500 in the bank....close to $4,000...I just used $500 as a figure...I just sold a pair of Nike Jordan shoes and going to use that $350 towards the car....can someone be a little more specific on what kind of exhaust?

I suggest looking in the Parts Section ... I bought a new set of Corsa Pace Car Edition with Pro Series Tips there for $600.00 (New in box). Who knows what else you may find there?!

Don't worry ... I'm sure lots of people wish they drove a Vette when they were your age. I did, but I wrapped it around a block wall! :o

But as mentioned already ... perf. mods for $500? Not realistically gonna get you much. Best of luck though.

A catback will add 0-5 RWHP. Here's a cheaper and more fun alternative. http://redshift.homestead.com/cutouts.html

I'd rather stay stock than "trash" up the car by "drilling holes" and ****. As a teenager, I am satisfied w/ what I get at stock. I'm still goign to work on purchasing a new exhaust through one of my dads hook ups. anyone suggest a corsca exhaust?

Exactly, with an X-pipe and a set of hi-flo cats. Event at that rate he might have to spend $1200 to $1500 with the labor. My $.02

With your limited mods, I'd definitely do the zip tie mod first.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ghlight=ziptie

Then, gut the exhaust by yourself for free or pay a shady muffler shop to do the job for you...mind you, it's illegal in most states.

http://joshker99.home.comcast.net/exhaust.htm

Or:

Do the have the exhaust bypass mod done by even a reputable muffler shop. This should be "more legal."

http://www.megspace.com/cars/magred/ExhasutMod.html

Finally, if you have money left over, paint the calipers and do the rear letter decals. If you find that the zip tie mod is too difficult for you, then you don't need to be driving a sports car. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty. That's how people without lots of money end up fixing up their cars and learning very cool tricks in the process. Basically, don't be a b***ch.

And people, thank you all so much for not jumping all over the kid for not buying the car by himself. If the father wants to have the honor and pleasure to buy the car for his son, then that's fine.

Is this your car or your dads?

Edit: Or a better way to ask, did he buy this car for you, or is it his and just lets you drive it all the time?
