Has anyone installed the skid plate (bolt on) stiffeners over the factory skid plates on the C5? If so, does this modification do the intended job? It would seem to be a good safety measure.
I installed an Elite Engineering Abs-of-Steel tunnel reinforcement plate in place of my stocker. I suppose you could mount them together if you wanted but I don't feel it's necessary. Here's a link to my installation.
If you're referring to that type of reinforcement, then I'd suggest the A&A Frame Savers. The wheels eliminate any scraping and help you roll onto and off any obstacle smoothly and without that awful scraping noise. While you're at it, get a set of Rocker Rails to install on the frame rails to protect the bottom of the rocker panels as well.

One of my first and best mods especially now that my car is lowered... Get them directly from Andy at www.aandacorvette.com. He has the best price.
IMO, the Frame Savers from A&A are superior (and I know for a fact they do work as intended!).
Thank you for the update on these plates. That is what I am asking about. I could decide to do the wheels. I understand the wheels need to also be welded-on.
Steve, I have the wheels on my Vette. For what it's worth, they work great when you go straight into an incline, but they have a tendency to bend the brackets if you enter an incline hard at an angle.

I appreciate your info on the wheels. I will order just the plates and see if they help. I am as careful as can be with the front-end. It is too bad the roads here in N. England are horrible. Sometimes the more you add on, but as time goes-bye, you say to yourself why.
On that note, how is that Flowmaster Exhaust?

I have A&A frame savers, and did NOT weld them also. It is an optional step.

Did you weld those wheel kits on or just bolt them in place?

I just ordered the A/A frame savers. I'm just wondering if my Elite jacking pucks will still fit?
From: Alhambra Calismognazifornia, in the country everyone comes just to complain but won't go back home!
IMO actually the BEST way to go would be to use both! you cant mount the A&A wheel right next to the skid plate using the same hole....i say this because i use the wheel also and it's great for what it does but it does not protect you from anything hitting the leading edge/bend of the nerf bar...i say this from experience as i have a nice big dent in one of them from hitting a tall parking block. i think having had the plate would have protected me from this.

Get yourself some Ultra High Molecular Weight Poly Eurethane and bolt it on... Costs about $1.00
