I don't mind a lot of work. I won't be able to invest a lot of time into my car until at least next summer.

If I don't have enough cash for a S/C by the end of next summer. I'm probably going to do a intake manifold, throttle body. I don't know what's a good cam though, and headers. Friend told me Hooker headers are one of the best, but I can't find anything on their website for C5's. As for the cam, can you link me? I was wondering how much I would gain and the cost. Thanks EG.

I very strongly suggest you figure out what you want to do with your car before you spend any money on it.

Write down what you hope to achieve (torque curve and hp at what RPM), your driving style (Sunday driver or drive it like you stole it), your preferences (loud, stealth, etc.) and what you are willing to compromise (driveability, noise, power etc.)

Only after doing that, make a list of modifications that will get you from here to there.

I will give you an example : I drive it like I stole it, I have zero interest in drag racing, tight twisties and top speed do it for me, I like very loud exhaust, I love very, very low, I want an old 60's mouse motor lopey idle, I can live with surging and driveability issues, a stiff suspension is my friend.

2 cents deposited

EG

Stephen, congrats on getting the beast running.

From the first vid, it seems to idle way too smooth if no tuning has been done, especially at 700rpm. Seems a cam of those specs should be rockin the car all over the place.

One question...how much louder did the car get? Somewhat louder, much louder, or a neighborhood petition to ban the car louder?

Tom

Tom,

It idles at 700rpm = yes.
Put it in gear = engine dies.
Hot start = BIG
Driveability without tune =
Streetability without tune =

Car shake = He11 yeah!!! The whole car shakes!! Love it!!

Engine and Exhaust Volume increase = definitely a "neighborhood petition to ban Grond"

Before I did the cam, I was going to dump the Stingers and get SLP Loudmouths - the Stingers were not loud enough. WELL NOW THEY ARE!!!

I made another video - waiting for it to encode and compress then I will post it.
