I am sort of confused. When should competive driving be used, when should traction control be turned on or off? I primarly drag race so when drag racing what is the best option to use.
I used to run with everything off. I first learned this from a very old post by Dr. Ron. Then Ranger explained it is better to run in COMP. mode for safety reasons, and that it does not become active until you start to get sideways. So as long as you stay straight in COMP. mode you will be just fine. Ranger was right. Good luck.
I agree, always run in competitive mode when drag racing. If the car get's away from you the race is over anyway, so why WOULDN'T you want the help to keep it out of the wall?

The flip-side is of the question is "What's wrong with running with TC on?"
The answer is; IT SUCKS!
When your wheels spin even a tiny little bit TC kicks in and shuts your engine down for a second and a half or so. The first time it happends to me I thought my car died.
Lord knows how easy these cars spin their wheels. Nice thing about COMP mode is you can spin your wheels as much as you like, so long as you don't get sideways. Also, it is very non-obtrusive. If you don't too far out of line, you never even notice when it's doing it's job.
The down side is, it makes you think your a better driver than your really are
