ok here goes, i just changed my clutch this weekend and replace the master and slave with new GM parts as a precaution. The pedal felt great and car shifted like new. I had the stock Z06 clutch disc raplaced witha 6 puck sintered iron disc that grip best when its is hot. I noticed a slight squeak after the second day and after a few more minutes i notifice the squeak would go away when i put the pedal in some. I decided to let the car cool down for a while and upon restarting the car i noticed i had no pedal pressure and the master rez was empty..i filled it and drained again, it was pouring out at the bottom of the bellhousing..This seems like the new slave let go. The line coming out of the slave felt kind of loose but i thought that would be the design, i should have not changed the older one as it worked great and only has about 5k on it. What is with these slaves going to the ****s? This new part just cost me 10 hours in labour. It is a z06 slave and new revised one bought from Fred Beans. Gene is sending me out a new one but the $100 part is not what concerns me..What are me chances of getting another defective one? How common is this?
I really didn't want to say anything on the phone, but this is extremely unusual to replace one right after a new one was installed. Although, I must say from what you're saying and describing it is toast. We sell a couple hundred of these a year and normally only have 1, maybe 2 at the most. Unfortunately, you're the 1 or 2 guy. I'm sorry you got a defective part, it stinks, I know.
The slave seal let go and leaked out all the fluid. I should have never changed the one i had in the car, i only did it cause i was already in there and as a precaution.. This slave issue and design is a terrible set up in these cars..Thanks for getting the part out..
