I bought a 2001 C5, A4, 315, awhile back and decided it was time to get a full blown burn out under the belt. There is some nice blacktop on my road. Into D3, a little power braking to get things started, and mash the gas. It was against the rev limiter and shifting to second immediately. The smoke really started rolling now. I let it shift to third and they kept on frying. It didn't take long for the tires to hook up in third and put an end to the fun. And fun it was! Reminds me of the good old days in my 68 Plymouth GTX. I notice the marks clearly show the shift to second. I also see the marks are darker on the inside portion of the tread. I assume this is due to the camber setting. Any thoughts on that? When was your last burn out?
It's been years since I did a good smoker. Tires cost too much!! However, my most memorable burn-out with MN6 was revving it to about 2500, and sidestepping the clutch. The two black marks in 1st gear measured 65 ft., 2nd gear marks measured 55 ft., and 3rd gear showed about 10 ft. before I lifted after my Vette began making an immediate left turn toward the curb!! ( I actually went back and measured the marks with a tape measure). Sometimes it's hard to drive civilized when you're in a Corvette.
