It works off a mercury switch.
Check the bulb first.
Then the connection.
Then the #2 fuse in the pass. side footwell.
If all that fails and you're getting power to the light socket, you may have a faulty switch.

Its a mercury switch. Should come on when you open the hood. Check the bulb or the connector. The connector is attached to the radiator shroud near the bottom on the passenger side.

I always keep mine unpluged because i like to clean my engine everytime i get home from going out and it was to much trouble to plug it and and unplug it everytime.Follow the advice of the forum member who told you to follow where the light is to where it plugs in.If it is plugged in then maybe your bulb is burned out.
Seems like the General skimped on the wire because it's just long enough to plug in. Mine comes unplugged sometimes and I have to go after it and put it back together. I'm doing a show on Sunday so it'll get unplugged again.

The General keeps cutting things more and more, the C4's had 2 lights under the hood. And my new SRX doesn't even have a hood light. Well I guess they saved .02
