Surely one of you very knowledgible people will know the answer to this question: If I install a new battery in my '04 C5, will the options in the DIC have to be re-programed? Will the radio work or will I have to enter some code? Thanks for the info!!

The DIC will be just fine. As for the radio, I have had to enter the theft lock code before, but others have not had to do this. Kind of hit and miss it seems.

If you have a code set in the Theft-Lok on the stock radio, you should unlock before disconnecting the battery.
I just installed an Optima in a friend's car for him. We lost the time on the clock and had to resynch the fobs (pressing and holding lock and unlock at the same time for about 10 secs.). Didn't lose the preset on the radio or any other settings.
Just remember to disconnect the negative (black) first and reconnect the negative (black) last. You should be good to go!

I didn't lose any memory, to include the fobs, when I changed my battery, and it was disconnected for about 8 hours while I searched for a new positive cable and installed it.
Will using one of those 9v battery units that plug into the cig lighter hold radio memory and the lock code while swapping the battery? We use them at our shop all the time when replacing batteries in all sorts of cars and pickups but I don't recall seeing a C5 get a new battery at the shop.
Now that I think about it, we did a new battery in a '00 Silverado las tweek and the radio played immediately after the swap.

Those little 9v units that plug into the cigarette lighter that I've seen at Eckler's and a few other places, specifically say NOT FOR C5's although I don't know why.
