When i shut my rear hatch it never closes properly.I always have to slam it shut and somtimes I still have to push down with my hand.Is their an adjustment of some sort? Thanks.
I've found it to be an issue when the windows are all the way up. The car is sealed and it's an air pressure issue. When the windows are partly down or I have the roof off, mine closes quite easily. If the windows are closed, I usually need to press firmly just above the latches to get the hatch to close all the way.
I usually try to open a door or crack the window when I'm shutting my hatch. I always use two hands and a firm push. Seems like it always closes easier this way.
Done deal. I felt like such an azz after I found out that the whole problem with closing that hatch was air pressure that can be relieved by leaving a crack in your door. Oh, then don't forget to shut your door!

Nothing is wrong with your hatch. Mine does the exact same thing. I have to place the palm of my hand over the emblem and push down when the windows are up and the doors closed. If the windows are down, the hatch will shut fully with no pushing required. I believe it has to do with how tight the car is and the air pressure from the inside.

Latley on mine, when i press the hatch button, the hatch seems to be "sticking" to the seals... and it doesnt pop all the way open. Is this just because my seals may be dry?

Hey red maybe it's a stray piece of Duct Tape causing the problem. Sorry couldn't resist

You're suffering from personal dryness Actually just hit the latches with a little WD40 and all should be well.
There is a pressure relief valve in the trunk... it is not designed well enough to relieve the volume of air created buy the rear hatch being open... They spent a lot of time on this issue with the C6... and it was not an easy fix, but they did it.
In order for the hatch to close properly, that is, to close with a minimum force required to move the hatch from the up position and lower it to contact the rear latches... seems simple huh... but it isn't,.,
relieving 20 cubic feet of air from the interior in less than a second and a half on a C5 requires an open window, or door. Forcing the hatch closed without air relief will put stress on the rear window seal, and the front windshield seal. Of course you could lower it slowly allowing the air to be relieved slowly, then press the hatch shut at the latch points or the hatch emblem.
I agree with Evil-Twin. You're pushing a heck of a lot of air within a few seconds.
The dealer I bought my car from showed me the way to close the hatch by lowering it down until it makes contact with the latches, then place your hand on the emblem and give it a good final push.
Works every time.
Then again, if the windows are open, it's no longer is an issue. It slams shut.
