Emissions question
When a manufacturer build a car to California or any type of west coast emissions standards, does that effect the perfomance of the car compared to one from the that is built for an area not as strict say East Coast?

As far as Corvettes are concerned, everything since 2001 model year is identical. You can still order the YF5 option for CA emissions, but it makes no difference in the physical content of the vehicle.

Looking through the years, you can find instances where vehicles delivered to Calif. had different equipment than others so that a model could meet emissions. (I think the 80 vette was 305 CI only in Calif if memory serves). In general, these Calif. vehicles make less power than non Calif. vehicles to comply with emissions. However, when the vehicle that is sold 50 state wide meets Calif. emissions, like Ward1s example, there is no difference.
