Call them...mine came with lighter cord and I bought mine from THUNDERRACING.
They no longer include the lighter plug, as there is no need for it.
The "old instructions" for the CLB, were to leave the car off, and use the lighter plug to manually (electrically) retract the lock, then plug in the CLB.
The "new instructions" call for turning the ignition on (which retracts the lock), then pull fuse #25, unplug connector, plug in CLB, reinsert fuse, turn iginition off.
The lighter plug does exactly the same thing as turning the ignition on does. It won't unstick a stuck lock any more than turning the key on will. If your column is already stuck, you need to either be lucky enough to shake it loose, or have it fixed before installing the CLB.
Here are the current instruction for installing the CLB from Thunder:

I hope this fixes my service column lock problem and my car will run. Any thing else I need to do? The column is unlocked but the car will not go even one foot with out shutting off?
What else do I need to do to get my beast back on the road?
Jeff
The GM recall for the MN6 installs a recall mod relay in the passenger footwell that shuts down the fuel in the event of a ECL problem. If you've had the MN6 recall done you can bypass the relay - and presumably restore the fuel flow - by adding a jumper wire to the relay plug. The real experts on this are Cscokd and FRCTony. They've put all the details you need out on this forum in the Technical section. This is a ten minute project.
I will look for it. All I care about is it running. I am use to modified cars having some error codes all the time or check engine lights. A service column lock message is no big deal to me as long as my car runs every time I start it.

The kit I bought from Thunder Racing came with the cig lighter cord. May want to call them and see if they have changed the product. I got mine about a year ago.

Funny; when I put the key in my car to start it I got the "remove key and wait 10 seconds" message. Came up, turned on the computer and saw this thread. Took me about 10 seconds to order my CLB!
I bought mine from Thunder Racing, but I still got "Pull Key - Wait 10 Sec" on the DIC, so I ended up taking it into the dealer and had them do the factory recall. That fixed the problem and I returned the CLB back to Thunder for a refund (less 20% restocking fee). I thought that was good.
I hate to tell you this but the recall doesn't fix the problem. You are still a ticking time bomb waiting to get stranded. You should have kept and installed the CL By-Pass even after the recall.

As long as your wheel is not locked, you do not need the cigarette lighter thing.
That is just to get it unlocked.
Believe me, I know.
ttt Damn! I'm confused again. As soon as you take the key out, the column will lock. The Thunder Racing instructions don't talk about having your key in the ON position during installation. Therefore, you would need to use the cigarette lighter thing to unlock your column.
Right?
Wrong. Instructions do say to turn on the ignition, just don't start the car. Installed mine from Thunder Racing a few weeks ago. No cig lighter cord included or needed. Follow instructions and it's over very quickly. Goog Luck.

I'll need to read mine again when I get home. I could have sworn it said nothing about having the key on. Also, it wouldn't make sense to ever send the cigarette thing if you install with the key in the ON position since the only way the column would stay locked with the key in ON position is if you suffered the 'column lock failure' which, from my limited knowledge, can not be remedied with the CLB. Thanks for the reply.
Does anyone know if they're making the steering column lock bypass kit for the c6? My car has been sitting at the dealer for a week waiting for a replacement steering column lock.
So they have not fixed it in the new model either? Great! A friend just asked me tonight if I thought the new model would suffer from the same problem. I guess they will.

Thanks for posting this info C4BuD...I made the mistake of letting the dealer do the latest recall (MN6), and then I was going to install the CLB.. to be safe..come to find out you can still get stuck via fuel shut off even with the CLB installed as we've seen in this post. I was hoping to find a way around this.
Thanks
sorry for the hijack
