Confusing CLB Installation Info --HELP

Default Confusing CLB Installation Info --HELP

I think I figured it out. Seems like there are 2 methods to perform the CLB install. Method 1 - Leave key out of ignition during entire installation process and use the cigarette lighter 'do-dad' to unlock the column.
Method 2 - Have key in ON position. When this releases the column, pull fuse 25 and continue with installation.

Do I have this right? Is one method better than the other?

is your colum currently "locked-up"?

Either way will work as long as the lock is currently functioning normally.

Nope. I was just getting ready to install my CLB and read all of this conflicting info. One guy is pulling fuses, someone isn't. One guy has the key in the ignition, another isn't. and so on.... But I didn't realize that there were two installation approachs. I know now. I'm going to use the 'cigarette lighter' method since that's the instructions that came with my CLB.

That is correct. The lighter cord is probably the easier method, but either will work fine.

the lighter cord is only used if your colum is currently lock, it will unlock it (fingers crossed) for you.

Not true, mine wasn't locked and I used the lighter cord, installl was real easy.

The lighter cord retracts the lock. So does turning on the ignition. Both serve the same function.

If your lock is stuck in the locked position when the ignition is on, the cord will be of no help.

oh really...i see

well I'm doing mine tonight, I'm I'm not locked up yest, so I dont shouldnt have to worry about that.

I just did my CLB install, took about 5 minuted to take apart the dash, 5 minutes to install the CLB, and 5 minutes to put it together.

Way eaiser than I thought.
