The cover on my center console got a slit in it (from my elbow) I took it off and had it recovered at a local auto upholstery shop for $40.00. It looks as good as new now. I saw those aftermarket covers, but I did not care for the "fat" look. (different strokes for different folks) I also did not care to spend 150-200 bucks on it when I preferred the original look.
Good call. All to often we forget that there are some GREAT car upholsterers out there.
yea,i dropped mine a while ago.just put an indentation in the console.i wouldn't buy a new door though, just get a leather "fixer upper" guy to fix it.i.e.uphosterer.alot cheaper and just as good looking!
Took my car to have the inside detailed. You can imagine my HORROR when I opened the door and there was a nice BIG slit in the console.
OF COURSE they didnt do it. WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! The owner was a total "behind" even after I calmly pointed out his workers crawling around in cars with sharp keychains, air hoses etc in their pockets. He was in total denial they did anything AND kept bashing Vettes. Like what did that have to do with the DAMAGE? Dealer quoted me $227 for the replacement part.
Duhmb question:::::: I will check with a local leather repair place but any other places that sell good QUALITY replacements?
...the other day I accidentally dropped my top on my center console and now theres a hole in the vinyl. Looked into a VetteEssential center, it was $200 holy crap. Anybody else make a cool center console, or seats for that matter that dont cost $2000?
I guess I'm lucky. The guy who owned mine before me did just that. He even had a replacement that he'd bought and just hadn't installed yet that went with the car. So after seeing what could happen I'm VERY careful when I take off that top.
Yep, did it first week of ownership. (about a year ago) left a 3/4 inch slit. it hasn't gotten bigger, when it does....then off to the upholstery shop. I have never dropped one of my t-tops in the past, it about gave me heart failure.
